This sector in Latin America is more important than the average for local economies, both in contribution to GDP and in job creation. Agricultural GDP in many countries in the region reaches more than 10% of total GDP and with respect to employment, in places like Guatemala, around a third of the population is employed in this area, this according to World Bank Database 2020.
