Objective

The purpose of this study is to understand the personal and professional experiences and perspectives of women who were born between 1981 and 1996 in the urban area of: Bogotá, Lima, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Through qualitative and quantitative research, the study revealed valuable insights about how these women perceive various areas of their lives: career, entrepreneurship, motherhood, home and partner, social mobility, financial well-being, among others.

Consolidated Results

Through this research it was possible to evaluate that women born between 1981 and 1996 arise from a different generation and hinge compared to that of their mothers and fathers.

It can be seen that they are women with more education than the previous generation, savers and focused on achieving professional goals before other life projects. In addition, the interviewees state that they instill in their children values ​​of gender equality, saving and the importance of education.

However, they are also aware that there is still a long way to go to achieve equality between men and women, both in the work and personal environment, and that violence against women continues to be the biggest problem for them.

Results by country

  • Argentina Report

    The women of Buenos Aires reflect having migrated due to economic adversities in their family and political difficulties in their country. They reflect being the ones with the most years of work experience of the four countries and, for the most part, they value growth opportunities and training in the employer. As mothers, the values ​​that most instill in their children are savings and work.

  • Brazil report

    The interviewees from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo state that of the four countries they provide the most economically at home and earn more than their partners. A high percentage have had to migrate to these cities due to their work. Regarding motherhood, more than half perceive great barriers for women in their work when combining being mothers and professionals.

  • Colombia Report

    The main reason why the women interviewed had to migrate to Bogotá was to find greater opportunities for personal growth outside the city where they grew up. They reflect having a clear career plan and strive to participate in work activities that allow them to create valuable personal connections and to spread the value of other women they work with.

  • Peru report

    With a high percentage, those interviewed in Lima perceive a significant improvement in their income and living conditions compared to those of the family that grew up. They reveal themselves to be entrepreneurs, savers and in the professional sphere, they are attentive to looking for better job opportunities.
