Roy Gerardo Zuniga | INCAE

Biography

He completed his doctoral studies in Complexity Management at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, England and the University of Valladolid, Spain, graduated Summa Cum Laude, for his work in Strategy Execution and Operationalization.  

He has a Master of Philosophy in Strategic Simulation and Organizational Learning from Manchester School of Management. She has a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and Environmental Management from the University of Oregon, USA.  

He obtained an MBA with an emphasis in Finance and a Postgraduate Degree in Functional Administration from INCAE, where he graduated with High Distinction. She completed management education training programs at Harvard Business School and London Business School. She received the British Chevening Scholarship Award, the Fulbright Scholarship and a scholarship from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation. He graduated in Industrial Engineering from the University of Costa Rica.  

He has been a consultant for the World Bank, founder and member of the boards of directors of several companies, advisor to the Industrial Reconversion Program of Costa Rica in the leather and footwear, textiles, clothing, food and plastics sectors.

Previously, he served as Dean of INCAE's Walter Kissling Gam Campus, Dean of Faculty, Director of CLACDS, Dean of Executive Training, Associate Dean of Marketing and as Executive Director of INCAE.

Previously, he was the General Manager of a restaurant chain; as well as Process Engineer, Sub-manager of materials and Head of Production of the Columbia Broadcasting System plant of Sony Music. [See more]

He was nominated by his INCAE students for the Best Business Professor Award by The Economist, obtaining the No. 4 position in the world and the No. 1 position in Hispano-America. His professional, academic and life experience in more than 50 countries on 4 continents make him a citizen of the world, with a solid multicultural vision and based on innumerable experiences and learnings.

Those who have worked with him qualify him as both an Expert and a Visionary who always looks forward, in a framework of passion, respect and enthusiasm for everything he does. It is characterized by refining or adapting existing topics to deliver new solutions and seeing situations from different perspectives. He is an atypical academic, who worked for many years in various organizations before obtaining his PhD, which enables him not only to recognize the underlying problems and complexity, but also to seek sustainable solutions to problems relevant to organizations.

He has held General Management and Functional Management positions in both Service and Manufacturing organizations, developing various jobs for the Public Sector and NGOs, being able to easily understand various organizational schemes. He is an entrepreneur, consultant, and Academically Qualified Professor according to the international standards of INCAE Business School, his research being published in academic journals such as Journal of Nonlinear Dynamics, Psychology and Life Sciences, Journal of Business Research, International Journal for Court Administration, Informing Science: The International Journal, Higher Education for the Future, Proceedings System Dynamics, among others.

He is the Academic Director of the Artificial Intelligence Program for Organizations, the Young Executives Leadership Program and the Leadership for High Potentials Program, and Co-Academic Director of the Middle Management Program. He teaches in Senior Management, Senior Public Management and Service Management Programs.

Leader of various projects of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS): Competitiveness of the Information Technology Cluster in Venezuela and Agrotechnology in Ecuador, carried out by a joint effort between INCAE, Harvard University and the Andean Corporation of Promotion, the study of the creation of a Medical Device Cluster in Costa Rica, Coffee Cluster in El Salvador, Banana Cluster in Costa Rica, Business Climate of the Central American Textile and Clothing Industry, Strategic Action Guide for the Sector Costa Rican Milk, Strategic Action Guide for the Textile Maquila of Honduras and Non-Tariff Rates to obtain sanitary records in Central America.
