
Biography
Professor María Elena Carballo, a native of Costa Rica, obtained a doctorate in Literary Studies and a master's degree, both from Brandeis University, in the United States. His doctoral thesis was on "The Autumn of the Patriarch" by García Márquez, and the Spanish-American novel of the dictatorship.
Prior to joining INCAE, she was a Fulbright-LASPAU fellow for three years and obtained the Hirschfeld Fellowship at Brandeis University for two consecutive years. The book “La Casa Paterna”, of which she is co-author, won the 1993 national essay award in Costa Rica.
At INCAE, in the master's programs, he teaches courses in areas of humanities and communication.
