Biography
Camelia Ilie is an entrepreneurial leader, advisor and board member with more than 25 years of experience in value creation, strategy, innovation and profit and loss management in organizations in Europe, Latin America and the US. She is Dean of Strategy and Institutional Affairs, Chair from the Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Leadership, and Professor at INCAE, a leading business school in Latin America. Over the past decade she has transformed the Executive Education business to position it in the Top 25 of the Financial Times global rankings. In addition to transforming the core business, she also created a new online business, a start-up in alliance with Emeritus, a world leader in educational technology. Up to more than 6,500 participants from more than 15 countries studied annually in the areas under his leadership.
He runs programs for Presidents, CEOs and Boards of Directors to help them improve their governance systems, focusing on competitiveness, strategy, strategic leadership, change management, succession planning, digital transformation and innovation. He has also worked with leading corporations such as Banco Santander, Gas Natural, Unión Fenosa, Iberdrola, PWC, Inter-American Development Bank, Bankinter, Telefónica, Iberia, Maersk, Novartis, Copa Airlines, in leadership and change programs after Mergers and Acquisitions operations. , Purchasing or Strategic business transformation. During the pandemic, he had to manage the transition of his family business and coordinate a sales process. His strengths are the development of high-performance teams and the management of complexity, strategy, innovation, data and trend analysis to identify risks and anticipate change.
Participates in several international boards as a member and Chair Emeritus of the External Advisory Council of the Institute for Advanced Studies of the University of Miami; member of the Advisory Council for Latin America of the American Association of Colleges and Schools of Business (AACSB); and member of the Board of Trustees of LASPAU, he is a former member of the Excellence in Practice Awards of the European Foundation for Management Development, among others.
Thanks to the opportunity to work with global experts, executives and companies, Camelia has developed resilience, cultural awareness and a global mindset. Was research fellow at the Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University. In LaRevista, Harvard Review for Latin America, write the column "Focus on Leaders under Covid" and is a regular contributor to Harvard Deusto Review in Spain.
Trained as an engineer with a Ph.D. in Business Administration, he has held executive and academic positions in international organizations where he has developed high-performance teams with whom he has launched several strategic business units with multinationals, universities and global EdTech institutions, with a high impact on the brand and the reputation, P&Ls, business efficiency and long-term transformations.
Over the past two decades, she has worked with a strong belief for diversity and inclusion fostering the development of women entrepreneurs and executives, including Spain's prominent Lidera Program; Women LEAD in Latin America; and the Women Executive Leadership Program in the United States that help women grow professionally. Together, these programs trained more than 2,500 graduates from 15 countries. In addition, the projects on the Social Progress of Women and the Entrepreneurial Woman in Latin America have generated several studies published in specialized magazines and disseminated internationally. Dr. Ilie also writes on higher education, business school models, MBA programs, and sustainability and leadership.
In recognition of her work, she received the Women of the Decade Award in Education and Leadership in Latin America from the Women's Economic Forum and is listed by Forbes magazine as the 100 most powerful women in Central America and the Caribbean.
