Impact Activities

CELIS carries out activities such as webinars, talks and conferences in which best practices and experiences are shared, in order to increase the visibility of the importance and impact of collaborative leadership. It also works to promote inclusive and sustainable leadership through alliances with other institutions that promote the development of leaders in the region.

  • Costa Rican businesswomen successfully conclude the third training phase of the LEADS Academy for Women

    The Costa Rican businesswomen who attend the program LEADS ACADEMY FOR WOMEN 2022, carried out by the Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Leadership (CELIS) ​​in partnership with Coope Ande, successfully concluded the third stage of the training program, which consisted of attending INCAE's Walter Kissling Gam Campus for a week to receive training in communication skills and present your acceleration project before a specialized jury. 

  • Second edition of LEADS Academy for Women begins in alliance with Banco Industrial

    In August we began, with a class with Professor Rocío Pastor, the second edition of the LEADS Academy for Women program in alliance with Banco Industrial. A privilege to have 40 outstanding businesswomen from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, who undertake this journey of learning and growth. 

  • First edition of LEADS Academy for Women concludes in alliance with Corporación Bi

    Thanks to the powerful alliance between Banco Industrial and INCAE's Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Leadership (CELIS), the closing of the 2021-2022 edition of the LEADS ACADEMY FOR WOMEN program was announced, whose main objective was to accelerate and grow the business of 40 Central American businesswomen.

    The report of the graduated businesswomen indicates that 35 scholarship recipients successfully completed the program, 14 of them Guatemalan and 21 from the rest of the Central American countries. According to the line of business, 62% provide services and 37% sell products, where the largest group (18 in total) are women between 31 and 40 years of age. 

    Among the most outstanding results for the economic development of these businesses and the countries involved, the increase in sales stands out (71% reported increases), reaching an average of USD 195,000 in 2021 and the generation of 87 new formal jobs in the Central American region, during the 6 months after the end of the program. Likewise, more than half of the businesswomen took advantage of mechanisms such as networking and created alliances with their colleagues, 83% developed new solutions and 34% exported products and services.

    The world is facing an unprecedented situation due to the crisis caused by COVID-19. Equipping women entrepreneurs with strategies to refine their strategy, evaluate plans, rethink, budget, forecast, stabilize their supply chain, adapt to new technologies and stay ahead is more important than ever.

  • LEADS Woman and its 3 editions

    120 women have participated and more than 4300 candidates in the three editions

    LEADS Mujer began in 2017 as an alliance between Mastercard and INCAE Business School, with the aim of strengthening and enriching the skills and knowledge of Central American entrepreneurs. This platform has provided the opportunity for a select group of 40 participants per year to know and develop the necessary skills that promote their strategic thinking, the ability to take risks, a good management of their finances, as well as their ability to communicate efficiently. and impact your business ideas. The program looks for companies that are in the growth phase, that is, companies with sources of income and a customer base that boost their business, to take them to the expansion phase.

    CELIS participated in CADF 2023 with the panel "Strategic alliances, the key to the sustainable development of the region". On this occasion, Camelia Ilie, Dean of Strategy and Institutional Affairs at INCAE and Chair of CELIS, together with Whitney Dubinsky, from USAID, and David Price, from the PriceSmart Foundation, talked about strategic alliances focused on the social progress of women, based on the educational programs aimed at businesswomen in LEADS Mujer and EMPRO, in which the organizations have worked together.

    In the month of September we had the honor of participating, through the presentation of our professor and academic director of the MBA and Global MBA programs at INCAE Business School, Carla Fernández, in the third edition of the CEO Women Summit. We thank Grupo Valor and Bac Credomatic for making us part of this inspiring event for hundreds of women in the region. Professor Fernández addressed the issue of access to technology from a gender perspective.

    Our high level Trust Workshop, led by Professor Mansour Javidan, PhD. , presented some results of the GLOBE study, which analyzes the Effectiveness of Leadership and Organizational Behavior in 140 countries, and in which our Dean of Strategy and Institutional Affairs and Chair of CELIS, Camelia Ilie Cardoza, participated.

    It was a very enriching meeting for leaders and decision makers. Relevant topics were addressed such as the management of cultural diversity with a perspective of inclusion, the constructive resolution of conflicts respecting diverse perspectives and how this can enhance creativity and innovation.

  • Euro-American Collaborative Leadership Conference

    Under the direction of the Ph.D. Camelia Ilie, Dean of INCAE and in alliance with Vital Voices, four editions have been created:

    More than a conference, it is a platform for dialogue and learning where Latin American leaders, both men and women, from the public, private and civil society, exchange ideas and experiences to form new alliances, strengthening female leadership.

    More than 2015 people from 2019 countries have participated in the four editions of the Euro-American Conference of Women Leaders 1000 to 23. In the past year, the name of the conference was changed to "Collaborative Leadership Conference" in order to get men to join the effort to advance women into leadership positions. In the last edition we achieved 30% male participation.

  • Global Women Leaders Forum in Iceland

    In the “Global Women Leaders” Forum, ideas and solutions are discussed and shared on how to advance further in society and in collaboration among all its members. It is co-organized by the global organization Women Political Leaders and the Prime Minister and other leaders of the Parliament of Iceland, under the title “We Can, Together”.

    Professors Cardoza and Ilie, in collaboration with Jaime García, the Senior Director of Research for INCAE's Social Progress Index, presented the progress of the research project Potential for Women's Social Progress that they carried out with the support of the Rockefeller Center for Latin America of the Harvard University.
