Inclusion of MSMEs | INCAE

Inclusion of MSMEs

Inclusion project in rural areas (Nosara, Brunca)

The objective of these projects is to encourage the linking of the different actors in a region, for the development and promotion of projects on specific issues that improve the social progress of the area.

The methodology implemented is based on 4 main elements:

  1. Preparation for intervention: Regional needs and challenges are identified and a strategic approach is defined
  2. Identification and selection of regional actors that promote the business ecosystem.
  3. Implementation of a training program designed according to the profile and needs of the actors.
  4. Promotion of a structure that allows supporting the actors after the end of the project.

Fulfilled projects:

Location:

  • Nosara, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
  • Brunca Region, Costa Rica

Objectives

- Provide an educational process that contributes to strengthening the business skills of organizations/companies and to have access to information on business knowledge of the market and networking.

- Promote the linkage of the community, public institutions and companies of a region. It mainly seeks to enhance the chain between the participants.

- It seeks to promote links between projects and different financing mechanisms

Result

  • 82 micro and small business entrepreneurs improved their business skills
  • Accreditation of two local financial entities to obtain funds from the Banking System for the Development of Costa Rica. These funds will be used to finance MSMEs in the area.
  • Obtaining financing by some companies

The program allowed me to learn about strategy and how to improve my company's strategy, how to attract clients, how to systematize processes, how to strengthen my weaknesses as an entrepreneur, and most importantly, it allowed me to meet many people with similar or different ideas but with the same desire. to undertake.

This led us to an important achievement, which was the chaining with other projects such as Hotel Emannuel, Cavernas de Ciudad Neily and Desafíos Tour (also participants in the program). We work together to be able to offer our clients better opportunities, personalized treatment and excellence in services. In this way, small links make up a chain that results in a greater frequency and number of clients.

Other strategic allies: MEIC, CENECOOP and Fundepos

Location: Costa Rica

Programs aimed at:

Result

  • In 2020 (prior to the training program), 44% of the companies reported having had access to financing, in 2021 (graduates of the program), 53% reported having access to financing.
  • 44% of companies managed to link up with other companies
  • 42% discovered new sales channels

For us it was and will be the best experience. We always had the goal of growing but we did not dare to request financing. The program helped us learn about our options, prepare information, and give us the confidence to take that step.

Today we have access to credit and we are ready to expand our clients and services. We reiterate that this program went hand in hand with us up to where we are in the final stage of our dream.
