Course on Financing Green Housing in Latin America ends

December 11, 2020. Officials from the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing of Ecuador (MIDUVI) completed today a course on Green Housing in Latin America, under the webinar methodology.

The main content of this training was based on the online course Green Housing Financing, launched on the market in October 2015 and whose objective is to publicize the opportunities of sustainable construction to the different actors: governments, technology providers, developers and banks, among the main ones. The training sessions that ended today focused on the importance of the role of governments in the process of transforming the construction and housing sector, and promoting greener and more sustainable investments.

During the webinars, topics such as the importance of green housing in the global context were developed: climate change and sustainable development objectives, fundamental aspects in sustainable construction. The session where programs for the implementation of green homes were presented included the participation of Ernesto Infante Barbosa, Founder of the EcoCasa de México program and former Head of the Sustainability Office at Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal (SHF). Mr. Barbosa spoke about the lessons learned in the implementation of said program, which has been awarded multiple times by various international organizations.

Gracia María Barahona, Director of CLACDS / INCAE Ecobanking, supported the work sessions led by Gustavo Portaluppi, consultant and tutor selected to carry out this training due to his long and recognized trajectory in the topic addressed and for his connection to work with governments and financial institutions that have already designed “green” products and services ”For the construction sector. Gracia stressed the importance of continuing to train on the advantages and opportunities of investing in green housing and reiterated his gratitude to the Development Bank of Latin America, CAF, sponsor of this training and for the commitment of MIDUVI executives, and their high performance during the different sessions.

The closing remarks were given by Jessica Palomeque, Principal Executive of the Directorate of Sustainability, Inclusion and Climate Change, of the Vice Presidency of Sustainable Development of CAF.
