The world has begun to experience an era of unprecedented transformation and scientific advancement. The accelerated incorporation of disruptive technologies in work environments demands changes in knowledge and skills humans need to stay competitive

In the midst of the so-called “4th Industrial Revolution”, the new jobs will demand professionals with greater specialization, and new skills and technical competencies. Entrepreneurship and innovation will be an imperative for Latin America in the years to come, while continuing education and learning will be the only hope for successfully meeting these global challenges.

The search for a solution to these demands reflects very well what this end and beginning of the year has been in INCAE Executive Education. From December 12 to 14, our campus in Costa Rica was the headquarters of the Digital Executive Program-DEP, an immersive learning experience that allowed 31 participants of different nationalities to understand the accelerated exposure to changing technologies on which their business model depends.

In the first days of January, the students of the Executive MBA 2019-I INCAE lived their experience in Asia with the module “Doing business with a changing China”, which took place in Beijing, thanks to the alliance with Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB).

The 5-day module, taught by a group of professors from the Faculty of CKGSB, combined keynote lectures, case studies, and visits to two companies in the Chinese capital.

In addition, students from Executive Masters in Finance y Operations and Technology They had the second module of their master's degrees at our campus in Costa Rica, and they experienced the great benefits of its flexible format - face-to-face and online classes for one week a month-, adapted to the needs of executives who must combine studies with responsibilities work and family.

At the end of this first month of 2019, a group of 28 executives participated in a new edition of the program How to manage the sales force to be more successful?, under the Academic Direction of José Exprúa; and 20 participants completed the Construction Management Specialization and received the double degree INCAE and McCombs School of Business University of Texas. The program took place in Panama, the USA and Costa Rica.

Commitment to excellence

At Executive Education we renew a portfolio of more than 30 face-to-face and online programs with a structure designed as a mirror of the Organizational Structure of companies, where each program responds to specific challenges of the managerial position or organizational area: General Management, Strategy and Innovation, Finance, Operations and Technology, Sales, Marketing and Communication, Leadership, Skills and Talent.

“With this, we renew our commitment to Latin American leaders to be their strategic partners in the search and creation of new businesses, products, services and technologies; in reorganization and organizational change, and in achieving greater global competitiveness for the companies of our continent ”, assures Dr. Camelia Ilie, Dean of Executive Education.

A clear example of this will take place from February 24 to 26, with the sixth edition of the Presidents Club, designed to offer an exclusive platform where the business leaders of the region can find a space for reflection and debate on the global changes in the economic, social and political context, as well as generational or technological transformations that could affect their businesses.

For this meeting, at our renovated Walter Kissling Gam Campus in Costa Rica, the agenda includes a session on the challenges of talent management in a digital world, the in-depth study of the best practices of business families in Latin America and Spain; and the analysis of fundamental aspects of cryptocurrencies and the requirements to build a true international digital currency.

"We will complement these sessions with updates on recurring topics on the Club's agenda, such as the urgency of responsible leadership and the impact of Social Progress in the countries and companies of the region," concludes the Dean.
