INCAE launched fundraising campaign "Illuminate"

INCAE, March 8, 2012. INCAE Business School carried out this week in Nicaragua and Costa Rica the launch of the campaign "Illuminate: the campaign for the future".

This is the first time in almost 50 years of existence that INCAE conducts a structured fundraising campaign in order to guarantee the minimum resources to continue having a positive impact in the region.

The launch was made on March 6 in Managua, Nicaragua, and on March 8 in Costa Rica.

The presentation of the campaign in San José It was held at 6.30 pm at Nova Cinemas, on Avenida Escazú, and was in charge of the Board of Directors, the Rector, Arturo Condo, and the Director of Development, Wendy Rodríguez.

The launching ceremony in Nicaragua took place at Cinemas Galería Santo Domingo It was attended by members of the Board of Directors, the Rector's Advisory Council, the National Committee, some members of the Circle of Founders, as well as allies, donors, graduates and other members of the INCAE family of the Region.

It was also performed a special recognition to Danilo Lacayo Rappaccioli, member of the INCAE National Committee since 1964 and member of the INCAE Board of Directors since 1976, "in honor of his exemplary leadership and outstanding effort and commitment to the benefit of INCAE, which have contributed and strengthened our Institution, its history, evolution, development and impact in Latin America ".

As part of the event The film "The INCAE project" was shown, a short film produced by Ana Coyne Alonso, a renowned Nicaraguan-American filmmaker.

The launch of Iluminar will also take place on April 10, 12 and 19 in three cities in the United States: Boston, New York and Washington DC

Offer more competitive scholarships

As explained by Arturo Condo, Rector of INCAE, The endowment of this institution is so small that it makes it very difficult to compete with schools in the United States and Europe that can offer more competitive scholarship packages outstanding students, as well as increased research funds to attract the most outstanding professors in the Region.

Statistics show that more 90% of INCAE students remain in Latin America when they graduate. Today there are more than 12,000 graduates who make a difference through their work from the most important positions in business, industry and governments in Latin America.

INCAE professors come from some of the most prestigious institutions in the world like Harvard, Yale, MIT, Oxford, Kellogg and Wharton, and more than 95% have a doctoral degree. However, their compensation, as well as the funds available for research, are below the average for business schools in the United States.

Condo detailed that the preliminary goal of the campaign is to raise $ 50 million which will provide the minimum resources, to give the school the necessary flexibility and thus maintain and increase its impact in the Region in accordance with its mission.

"The objectives of this campaign have been carefully selected to have the optimal impact in the areas where it is most needed. Donors can rest assured that INCAE will be responsible for every contribution it receives and that its generosity will truly make a difference," he said. the rector.

Carlos Pellas, President of Grupo Pellas and member of the Advisory Council of the Rector and of the Board of Directors of INCAE, highlighted that this business school has demonstrated its commitment to the Region.
