CIMS presented the results of the Study of Strengthening of the Onion Crop in Costa Rica

 Alajuela, October 04. On September 30, the Center for Intelligence on Sustainable Markets (CIMS) presented the results of the Study of Strengthening the Cultivation of Onion in Costa Rica. The study is an initiative of the Program for the Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Costa Rica.

The Intelligence Center on Sustainable Markets is a private initiative of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) of INCAE Business School, which was born as a result of years of research on competitiveness and sustainable development in the region. The mission of CIMS is to promote and facilitate exports and trade of environmentally and socially responsible products and services in Latin America and from Latin America to industrialized countries.

Producers from the three Costa Rican onion production zones (Cartago, Santa Ana - Alajuela and Guanacaste), input suppliers, representatives of government entities, industrializers, and researchers on onion issues attended the presentation of this study, who generated an important discussion. around strengthening strategies.

Mr. Roberto Azofeifa from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock commented: "The results of the Onion Competitiveness Study carried out by CIMS-INCAE for MAG are very interesting and open a series of ways to strengthen the onion agricultural chain in particular for the producers. " Mr. Azofeifa added that "A detailed reading is required by the applicants of the study and the producers to work on the recommendations and strategies generated by the study, as well as to give continuity to the monitoring and updating part of costs and income of the primary phase. "
