Training Program for those in charge of the Educational Budget at the Departmental Level of Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Honduras, May 6, 2010 - The Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) of INCAE, the Secretariat of Education of Honduras and the Francisco Morazán National Pedagogical University, signed on May 4 an agreement for the execution of the Training Program for those in charge of the Educational Budget at the Departmental Level, which is being developed by this University in conjunction with the CLACDS of INCAE and the Education Division of InWEnt Capacity Building International, with funding from the German Ministry of Cooperation.

This agreement was signed by Mr. José Alejandro Ventura, Secretary of Education of Honduras; Mrs. Lea Azucena Cruz, Rector of the Francisco Morazán Pedagogical University; on behalf of InWent, Mrs. Claudia Lange; and from INCAE Mrs. Adriana Umaña.

This project is part of a regional program in which InWEnt and INCAE collaborate with various institutional partners, with the purpose of contributing to increase the effectiveness and efficiency in the management of financial resources in the Ministries of Education in the region. During 2009, a similar program was started for those in charge of the budget at the departmental level in Guatemala with the Rafael Landívar University, and in the middle of this year, the course Economics and Educational Policies will begin at the INCAE Campus in Costa Rica, which will be offered semi-face-to-face with high-level officials from the ministries of education, comptrollers' offices, ministries of finance, and other related institutions throughout Central America.

Officials from INCAE and InWEnt attended the signing ceremony of this Agreement in Honduras, who are in the country to participate in the Closing Workshop of the Preparatory Phase of the training program at the facilities of the Pedagogical University, where they were presented to The Ministry of Education designed the training modules and made the necessary agreements for their execution, which is expected to begin in the middle of this year.
